Cast
Sheercore features a wide variety of real and fictional characters, but there are a few recurring main ones you’ll see again and again. You can find some brief details about those persistent protagonists below.
Matt – One half of Team Sheercore, and one of the “geeks with swords”. He’s a strong and dynamic leader, though somewhat arrogant, and he can be immature at times. He relies on Lauren to tell him what is and isn’t socially acceptable.
Matt is based on the author of Sheercore, Matt Legend Gemmell. You can find the real Matt’s personal blog at mattgemmell.com.
Chris – The other half of Team Sheercore, who also wields a sword. Chris is something of a zany person with many bizarre interests and crazy schemes. He’s secretive about his past, and is known to be virtually indestructible.
Chris is based on Sheercore’s occasional guest-author, Chris Miller. You can find the real Chris’ personal blog at chris-miller.org.
Neil – A frequent player in Sheercore comics, and source of endless unusual (and often highly disturbing) conversations. Neil’s quest in life is to find true love, but he is repeatedly thwarted by his habit of making inappropriate remarks in the company of women.
Neil is based on Neil Hunt Inglis. He has no blog since he doesn’t believe in them, but you can find plenty of Neil-related posts at Matt’s blog.
Lauren – The long-suffering fiancée of Matt, and occasional general-purpose damsel in distress. Lauren seems to have resigned herself to the frequent strangeness Matt subjects her to, but the presence of swords in the house is a source of constant irritation to her.
Lauren is based on Lauren Dempster, who really is Matt’s fiancée. You can read her blog at laurendempster.com.
Steve – Computer expert and aficionado of all things related to pirates. Steve is intolerant of fools and clueless users, and despite his love of swashbuckling he prefers more modern forms of weaponry. For both these reasons, he carries a handgun at all times.
Steve is based on Steve Strowes, a university colleague and friend of pretty much everyone else listed here.
