Interesting fact (I didn&#039;t know that), but the comic is really about public perception and exaggerated criminalisation, rather than the actual roots of the word. I think the main point is still valid. :)</description>

Piracy&#039;s first ever recorded usage was for the perceived abuse of the copying of printed/written works (this was centuries before &#039;copyright&#039; was invented), not, as the common misconception is, sail boats, west country accents, rum and all that. </description>
