Piracy
Stealing copyrighted material is wrong, but calling it “piracy” is just ridiculous.
Credit to Steve and Iain who co-wrote this strip with me.
Panel 1: A man stands watching a person using a computer. Man: "PIRACY!" Panel 2: A man stands watching a kid spray-painting graffiti on a wall. Man: "WALL RAPE!" Panel 3: A man stands watching a person walking on some grass. Man: "GRASS MURDER!" Tooltip: Masturbation = BABY GENOCIDE!

I _demand_ that we start calling any act of piracy “Yarrring”!

Actually not the case. Piracy’s first ever recorded usage was for the perceived abuse of the copying of printed/written works (this was centuries before ‘copyright’ was invented), not, as the common misconception is, sail boats, west country accents, rum and all that.

Hi Matt,
Interesting fact (I didn’t know that), but the comic is really about public perception and exaggerated criminalisation, rather than the actual roots of the word. I think the main point is still valid.
