Another good one is to state that you’re going to do something (”I think I’ll go get some ice-cream”), and then you put on a slightly sad, wistful look, and lower your voice as you say “… but not today.”
I can highly recommend both of these techniques.
Panel 1: Ways to add Drama to mundane situations, #6. Panel 2: Make an innocuous suggestion... Matt: "Maybe we should go climbing this weekend." Panel 3: ... with an ominous ending. Matt: "While we still can." Tooltip: Uh... yeah. I think I'm busy this weekend. And every day thereafter.
